Chavez, 70, of Cozad, died Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at the Cozad Community Hospital in Cozad, after she fought a courageous battle with Scleroderma and cancer. Services will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel in Cozad. Burial will be in the Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2011 at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad. Anna was born on March 19, 1941 at Cozad to Grover and Lucille (Allen) Newbrey. She attended school at Cozad. On June 8, 1963, she married Archie Chavez at Yorkville, Ill. The couple made their home in Illinois for 37 years, where they raised their four children. Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Archie Chavez of Cozad; three daughters, Joyce (Charles) Wojack of Plano, Ill., Laurie Cook of Aurora, Ill., and Brenda Bruck of Sugar Grove, Ill.; a son, Archie Alan Chavez of Rockford, Ill.; a sister, Lilac Jo (Bob) Sabin of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a brother, Stephen (Joyce) Newbrey of Arkansas; sister-in-law, Arleen Newbrey of Eustis; 10 grandchildren; seven-great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dick and Ted Newbrey.
