John Cloyd, 63, of Cozad, died Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Camanche, Iowa. 

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 
the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kathy Gundell officiating.  

Visitation for memorial book signatures will be held on Friday, July 16, 2010 
from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad.

He was born on June 30, 1947 at Gothenburg to Donald and Betty (Rasmussen) 
Cloyd. 

He graduated from North Platte High School in 1965. Following graduation, John 
attended Mid Plains Community College in North Platte. While in college, John 
worked for the railroad and spent two years in the National Guards. 

He entered the United States Navy in the late 1960s and was enlisted for two 
years. Following his honorable discharge, he moved to Oregon, where he worked 
as a logger for several years.    John later began driving truck with a lumber 
company, a profession that he continued until his death. 

John was a member of the NRA. He also loved collecting guns, scuba diving, and 
collecting coins. He was very devoted to his work and worked extremely hard at 
everything he did.  When his work was done, John most enjoyed spending time 
with his loved ones. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Don in 1984; a baby sister, Deanna; 
grandparents and his step father, Jess “Curly” Baker. 

Survivors include his mother, Betty Baker; brother, Donn Cloyd, both of Cozad; 
sister, Denise Miller of Queen Creek, Ariz.; special friend, Carole Frazier of 
Cozad; a special uncle, Ralph Rasmussen and many other relatives and friends.
