Joan Crandell, 76, Overland Park, Kan., died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009 at Overland
Park Regional Medical Center in Overland.

A graveside service was held at 11 am, Monday, Aug. 24, 2009 at Leavenworth
National Cemetery. 

Joan leaves behind her daughter, Cathy; sons Rick (Tammy) Crandell, Ron
(Marilyn) Crandell; seven grandchildren, Aimee, Teresa, Caitlyn, Kelsey, Matt,
Katie and Beth; four great-grandchildren, Blake, Kiara, Evangeline and
Charlotte; brother David Smith and other family and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Jack, Dale and Gene
Smith.

Joan was born Aug. 25, 1932, in Nelson to Harold and Helen Petty Smith. She
married Willard Crandell on Dec. 11, 1949. They raised three children in Cozad.
In 1983 they moved to Johnson Lake where they enjoyed fishing and relaxing. 

They lived there until moving to Overland Park in 2006.
