Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Berryman Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife, Lu of Cozad; two sons, Ted (Heather) Cumpston of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Troy (Launa) Cumpston of Kearney; five grandchildren, Nikole and Marc of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Trevor, Ben and Sarah of Kearney; a brother, Kenneth Cumpston of Gothenburg; two sisters, Audrey (Earl) Tabor of Farnam and Mary (David) McKim of Maxwell; a sister-in- law, Janie Cumpston of Colorado Springs, Colo., and a “mother-in-law of the heart,” Zeppelin Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roger. He was born Feb. 17, 1942 in Gothenburg to Oscar and Tena (Duis) Cumpston. On July 27, 1962, he married his childhood “sweetie,” Lulu Fae Johnson in Gothenburg where the couple lived until moving to Cozad in 1968. After graduating from Gothenburg High School, he worked at Monroe Auto Equipment Co. for 37 years, where he was the quality manager for most of those years until his retirement in February 1999.  After retiring, the couple enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family, grandchildren, and friends.
