Daiss, 82 of Lexington died Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington. Betty was born Sept. 30, 1927 in Kechi, Kan., to Howard and Margaret (McCormack) Brockway. Betty graduated from Valley Center High School, Valley City, Kan., in 1945 and then attended St Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Wichita, Kan., for three years graduating with her degree as a registered nurse in 1950. Betty moved to the Lexington area in 1952. On June 21, 1953 she was united in marriage to Howard Daiss in Lexington. The couple lived in Fremont from 1963 until 1970 when they moved to Minnesota for 21 years and retired and moved back to Lexington in 1991. Betty cared for many patients during her nursing career from 1950 until 1974, including work at the Lexington Community Hospital. She was a secretary for a State Farm Insurance Agency in Minnesota from 1978 until 1990 and after retiring she continued working part time until 2008. Betty was a member Of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington. Betty enjoyed playing pinochle, knitting, crocheting and doing embroidery. Betty is survived by her husband, Howard Daiss of Lexington; stepmother, Lillian Confer of Culbertson; two sons, Michael (Sarah) Daiss of Sheridan, Ind.; Daniel Daiss of Lexington; one daughter, Michelle Daiss of Rochester, Minn.; one sister, Delores McFadden, Sedalia, Mo., uncle: Sterling Moritz of Lexington; brother-in-law, Vic (Betty) Huttenmeyer, Tecumseh; three grandchildren, Linden, Lauren and Loche Daiss, and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather DeLos McFadden and one sister, Kay. Funeral Services were held Monday, July 19, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington, with Pastors Dean Hanson and Pastor Jim Witt officiating. There was no visitation. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington or American Cancer Society.
