A funeral mass will be held Thursday, April 15, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s in the Valley Episcopal Church in Lexington with the Rev. Kay Knudson officiating.  There will be no visitation.   Burial will be held prior to the mass in the Kearney Cemetery at Kearney.  LaDonna was born April 19, 1922, at Grand Island, the firstborn of three children to Lloyd and Nina (Keil) Frank.  Next came Jacqueline and finally Lloydene, who preceded LaDonna in death at the tender age of two months.  She graduated from Longfellow High School in Kearney in 1939 playing first chair violin in the orchestra.  She attended Kearney State Teacher’s College for one year prior to moving to Denver to work as a nursing student at St. Luke’s Hospital.  LaDonna went to work for King’s Pharmacy in Lexington to help make ends meet once the youngest of her brood was in school.  Once retired, she and Bill would work together-Bill woodworking and LaDonna tole painting and baking which would supplement their retirement by attending craft shows selling their wares.  LaDonna was an active member of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution, Bonneville Chapter; an active member of the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, George Norton Chapter; an active member of St. Peter’s in the Valley Episcopal Church and was also a member of Guild of Colonial Artisans and Tradesman; Daughters of 1812; National Society Descendents of Early Quakers; and past member of Lexington Genealogical Society.  LaDonna loved her God, family, country, church and church family, her friends, her home and….her Cornhuskers.  She enjoyed playing cards at the Grand Generation center and hoped to win every Monday night at Bingo.  She also enjoyed exercise and strength training classes given at the center as well.  She had numerous hobbies including genealogy, bird watching, gardening, music and spending time with friends and family to name just a few.  LaDonna was a valued resident of Lexington for 55 years.  She is survived by her husband of 56 years, John William Doughty of Lexington; three sons, William Edward (Donna) Torrance of Naples, Fla., Douglas Scott Torrance and Lawrence Frank Doughty, both of Lexington; one daughter, Cynthia Kay (Lonnie Dee) Highland of Loveland, Colo.; five grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sister Jacqueline Strickland of Rockwall, Texas; nephews David (Virginia) Strickland of Cincinnati, Ohio; Phillip (Susan) Strickland of San Antonio, Texas; niece Pamela (David) Merkin of Dallas, Texas; four grand nephews and two grand nieces.  In addition to Lloydene, also preceding LaDonna in death are her parents, her eldest son John Lloyd Torrance and two grandsons.
