Ferguson, age 74 of Cozad, passed away March 2, 2011 at his home in Cozad. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 7, 2011 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad. Jim was born Feb. 2, 1937. At a very young age, he was adopted from an orphanage; he never knew his birth parents. After he attended high school, Jim entered the U.S. Air Force where he served for several years. On May 12, 1986, Jim married Katherine “Kay” Green on a ranch north of Hershey. He would go on to retire from the Army in the mid 1990s. By the time Jim was done serving his country, he had served in Vietnam, Korea and the Gulf War. Jim was a member of the Eagle’s Club in North Platte as well as the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Kay Ferguson of Cozad; daughter, Lori (Robert) Nelson of Cozad; grandson, Jeremy Nelson (Jessica Hill) of Cozad; brother-in- law, Buck Green of New Mexico; his nieces and nephews, Mike Green and family of Paxton, Jeff and Georgia Karel and family of Cozad, Tim Johnson and Donna Brown, both of Michigan and special friend, Lili Sardeson of Cozad. Jim is preceded in death by the mother of his child, Darlene McGregor.
