Bud Gierhan, age 81, of Kearney, died Monday, April 18, 2011 at the Good 
Samaritan Hospital shortly after being admitted.  

Funeral services will be Friday, April 22, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Holy 
Cross Lutheran Church in Kearney with Pastor Duane Duley and Pastor Rob 
Kuefner officiating.  Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Franklin at 
2:30 p.m.  

Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. with the family present at the 
Horner Lieske McBride and Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney and 
prior to the service on Friday.  

Bud was born on Sept. 3, 1929 in Lexington to Martin F. and Martha (Neben) 
Gierhan.  He grew up on a farm in the Buffalo area North of Lexington.  He 
attended Lutheran Parochial school in Buffalo.  

He married Bev Schmidt at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington.   

Survivors include his wife, Bev Gierhan, son, Jim (Rhonda) and daughter-in-
law, Susan Gierhan, all of Kearney;  brother, Sam (Dixie) Gierhan of Lakewood, 
Calif.; sister, Sue (Roger) Bredenkamp of Long Beach, Calif.; Darline Bourn of 
Bismark, N.D.; grandson, Jonathan (Sarah) Gierhan of Kearney; granddaughter, 
Jenny Gierhan of Kearney; grandsons, Adam Gierhan and Ryan Gierhan of Clay 
Center, Kan.; mother-in-law, Doris Thompson of Franklin and numerous nieces 
and nephews.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, and one son Michael.
