Curtis was born Jan. 19, 1938 at Lexington to Vernon and Beulah (Weaver) Gill. He attended rural school in the Cozad area and graduated from Cozad High School in 1955. On May 25, 1957 Curtis married Dolores Jenkins. The couple made their home in Cozad until the early 1960s, when they decided to move to the Gill family farmstead, where Curtis had been raised, northeast of Cozad. Their union was blessed with three children, Lori, Kim and Kevin. Curtis farmed until the early 1980s, when he began trucking. Eventually, he came to work for Hi-Gain Feedlot, a job he continued until his retirement in the late 1990s. Curtis loved to socialize. He enjoyed having coffee and sharing stories with his friends, which he did often, until his health wouldn’t permit. Curtis especially loved his family; and attended all of his grandchildren’s special events. Curtis had a special talent for hand crafting art. He was particularly skilled with clay, paint and wood. He had a special ability to use his artistry to illustrate what was on his mind, regardless of the materials that he was using. Curtis is preceded in death by his parents and his former spouse, Dolores. He is survived by his three children, Lori (Rodney) Stauffer, Kim Rangel, Kevin (Shelli) Gill, all of Cozad; nine grandchildren, Kendra and her husband Nate, Jeffrey, Rita, Haleigh, Simon, Jr., Kurt, Kyle, Kerri and Klint and five great-grandchildren.
