Sylvia Irene Hahn, 92, a long-time Hood River resident, died June 12, 2011 at 
Brookside Manor where she had lived for the past five years. 
 
A service to honor and remember Sylvia was held Tuesday, June 21 at Riverside 
Community Church at 4th Street and State Street in Hood River. 
 
She was born Feb. 15, 1919 in Sumner to Charlie Eugene and Buelah Isabel 
(Guessford) Scranton.  

On Aug. 17, 1942 she married Russ Hahn and they were blessed with two 
daughters, Joanne and Jeanne.   

Sylvia is survived by her daughters, Jeanne (Bob) Stover of Cathedral City, 
Calif., Joanne (Tom) Holt of Hood River; three grandchildren, Peter (Maddy) 
Downing of Colorado Springs, Colo., Regan (Danny) Carpenter of Fountain, 
Calif., and Wendy Holt of Portland, Ore., and 10 great-grandchildren.  

In addition to her parents and her husband, Russ, Sylvia was preceded in death 
by a brother, Bob Scranton and sister, Ruth Mohr.
