Hawk, 89, of Lexington, formerly of Gothenburg, died on Dec. 30, 2007. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008 at the Berean Bible Church in Lexington with with Pastor Glen Johnson. Visitation was Friday, Jan. 4, at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg. Burial will be in the Gothenburg Cemetery. Survivors include: son, Charles Bailey of Spring, Texas; daughters, Pearl (Leonard) Hofaker of Lexington, June (Jerry) Williams of Lincoln, Rose (Clark) Spivey of Elwood; stepchildren, Melvina (Jim) Brown of Prole, Iowa, Francis Scheiff of Aurora, Deanna (Wayne) Cheek of Republic, Mo., Ellen Swanson of Kearney, Frank (Sharon) Hawk of Norwalk, Iowa; 25 grandchildren, 15 step- grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren, 24 step-great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Roy and Elmer; infant children, Mary Alice and Randy Lee; her sons, Kenneth, Darrell, Bill and Jack Bailey; a stepson, James Hawk; her brothers, T. Edward, John, and Arthur Waller. Sarah was born on Oct. 28, 1918 at Bell Plains, Kan., to Homer Prince Waller and Jossie Pearl Griffin. Sarah married Roy E. Bailey. Roy died in 1948. She then married Elmer Hawk in 1961 and he died in 1979. She lived in Gothenburg from 1943-1961.
