Visitation for a memorial book signing will be from 1-6 p.m. Sunday at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at the Berryman Funeral Home with the Rev. Elder Thomas Bond officiating. A private family inurnment will be in the Cozad Cemetery. Survivors include his son, Bruce (Jolene) Jefferies of South Bend; two daughters, Debbie (David) Salter of Grand Island and Carmen (Bill) Atchison of Cozad; seven grandchildren, Stacy (Troy) Glock of Grand Island, Dana (Ryan) Bittner of Omaha, Blake Jefferies of Omaha, Graham (Cassie) Johnson of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Ashley (Brian) Rutan of North Platte, Chad (Alyse) Atchison of Cozad, McKenzie Atchison of Ulysses, Kan.; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joy in 2000. Dwight was born on Oct. 8, 1927, to Everet and Iva (Morris) Jefferies at Clearwater. In 1945, Dwight entered the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Japan. Following his discharge, he returned to Nebraska, making his home in Callaway. On July 16, 1950 he married Joy Kolbo at the E.U.B. Church in Callaway, then moved to Cozad in 1954. Dwight worked for the city as an electrical line- man. In 1965, he began work at Monroe Auto Equipment Company as an electrician, retiring in 1991. He was an active member of the B.P.O.E. Cozad Elks Lodge 2250.
