Mary J. Johnson, 94, of Kearney, died Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at St. Luke's 
Good Samaritan Village. 

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 25 at Holy Rosary 
Catholic Church in Overton with Rev. Mike McDonald officiating.  

Interment will be in St. Ann's Cemetery in Lexington.  Visitation will be from 
6-7 PM Thursday at the O'Brien - Straatmann Funeral Chapel in Elm Creek with a 
Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m.  

She was born July 3, 1915 in Overton to Frank and Frances (Pavelka) Ourada.  
She grew up in Overton.   She attended District 77 country school and 
graduated from Overton High School in 1934.  On Feb.10, 1936, she married 
Johnnie A. Johnson in Elm Creek.  The couple farmed south of Sumner until 
1961, when they moved to Overton.  Mary moved to Kearney in 1988.  

She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and Prince of Peace Catholic 
Church.  She was an excellent seamstress and quilter and enjoyed flower and 
vegetable gardening.

Survivors include her son, Robert (Rita) Johnson of Kearney; daughters, Janis 
O'Mara of Kearney, Jill (Mike) Haskill of Elm Creek and Jean (John) Cullen of 
Sunriver, Ore.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Rose 
Davis and family of Overton; and special friends, the Denson and Dolan 
families of Lexington, Kearney and Gibbon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Johnnie Johnson; son-in-
law, Jim O'Mara; great-grandson, William L. Englehardt; five brothers and 
three sisters.
