He will be cremated. He was born to Oswald Kampfe and Ella Kampfe on a farm northwest of Lexington on Dec. 7, 1923. The family moved to Omaha where his father and several uncles managed an oil refinery. When his mother passed away in 1927, Marion and his three older sisters moved to Grand Island to be raised their maternal grandparents, Fred and Matilda (Cross) Simmons. His father married Ruth (Donelson) Kampfe in 1929. Marion moved back to the farm where he graduated from Lexington High School. He served in the U.S. Navy two years in 1947. His lifetime career was the moving business in his North America Van Line truck. He often won their drivers safety award. After traveling coast to coast, he liked the climate and beautiful red rock country of Sedona, Ariz., so bought a condo there to retire14 years ago. In poor health, April 2010 he moved to Sedona Winds Retirement Home. Survivors include his eldest sister, Vi (Kampfe) McIver, El Paso, Texas; three nephews, Randolph Lee McIver, Wingdale, N.Y., Christopher Juhl Smith, Cozad, John Oswald McIver, Northville, Minn.; four nieces, Virginia (Smith) Olson, Colorado Springs, Colo., Terry Lynn (Kunz) Turner, Woodinville, Wash., Kathryn Ruth (McIver ) Sanderlin, Tucson, Ariz., and Barbara Ann(Kunz) Grisham, Wasilla, Alaska. Marion’s second-generation nephews and nieces include: Vera Ruth, Viola Alfrieda, Virginia Kathryn, and Victoria May Sanderlin, all of Tucson, Ariz., Carter Skye McIver, Wingdale, N.Y.; Steven John and Lorraine Aubrey McIver, Northville, Mich., Joshua Paul, Miriam Elizabeth and Adam Silas Grisham, all of Wasilla, Alaska, Jeffrey Alan Svajgr, Cozad, Rebecca (Olson) Akers and Kevin Edward Olson, Colorado Springs, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Vera Smith, Cozad, and “Boots” Florence Kunz, Cleveland and niece Judy (Smith) Svajgr, Cozad.
