Karlberg, 88, of Lexington, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Church of Sumner-East Campus with Pastor Ken Hutson officiating. Burial will be at the Jewell Cemetery at Sumner with Military Honors by American Legion John Lloyd Post No. 41 of Sumner. There will be no visitation. The casket will be open at the church one hour prior to service time.  He was born July 13, 1921, on the family farm south of Sumner to Gust and Anna (Carlson) Karlberg. As a young man he accepted Christ as his personal Savior. He graduated from Sumner High School in 1938. In 1941, Lee moved to California, working for Vega and Lockheed Aircraft companies before enlisting in the Army in 1944. He was honorably discharged from the service in 1946 and returned to Nebraska to farm.   On Sept. 4, 1949, he was united in marriage to Marjorie A. Thomas at the Evangelical Free Church in Sumner. He was a farmer in the Sumner area all of his life until a stroke incapacitated him in December of 2006. He was a resident of Plum Creek Care Center until his death.   Lee was a member of the United Church of Sumner and a lifetime member of the American Legion John Lloyd Post #41 of Sumner, as well as serving on several church, community and county boards.   Survivors include two daughters, Marilee (Dale) Kabes of LaVista, Peggy (Dave) Stenberg of Lexington; one son: Tom (Kim) Karlberg of Eaton, Colo.; one brother, Maurice (Ellen) Karlberg of Sumner; one sister, Arlene (Lovell) Potter of Flagstaff, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Joel (Jill) Stenberg of Omaha; Andrew Kabes of Sidney; Jeffrey Stenberg of Lexington and Jordan, Cade and Morgan Karlberg of Eaton, Colo., and one great-granddaughter, Lis Stenberg of Omaha.  Leland was preceded in death by his wife, Marge, in March 2009 and his parents.   File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ne/dawson/obits/k/karlberg46gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/nefiles/ File size: 2.5 Kb
