Ellen L. Karlberg, 83, of Sumner, died March 11, 2011. 

Funeral Services were Monday, March 14, 2011, at the United Church of Sumner – 
East Campus, in Sumner with Pastor Ken Hutson, officiating.
 
Interment was in the Sumner Cemetery at Sumner.
 
Visitation was held Sunday, March 13, 2011, at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in 
Lexington.
 
Ellen Lorraine Karlberg was born to Ralph and Mary (Lahm) Scoville on Aug. 25, 
1927 in Sumner.  She attended school in Sumner for 12 years and graduated from 
Sumner High School in 1944 at age 16. Ellen was united in marriage to Maurice 
Karlberg on July 23, 1948. Three children were born to this union: Karen Sue, 
Timothy Alan and David Wesley.
 
Survivors include her husband of 62 years,  Maurice W. Karlberg of Sumner; one 
daughter, Karen Sue (Gail) Coleman of Greeley, Colo.; two sons,  Timothy Alan 
(Deb) Karlberg of Wheatland, Wyo., David Wesley (Carol) Karlberg of Sumner; 
four brothers, Robert D. (Marjorie) Pierce of Sumner, L. Keith (Pat) Scoville 
of Holdrege, Neil G. (Shirley) Scoville of Kansas City, Mo., Lorin R. 
(Charlene) Scoville of Cheyenne, Wyo.; one sister, Marilyn J. Bauer of 
Kearney; two sisters-in-law,  Shirley Scoville of Elm Creek, Ardella Scoville 
of Sumner; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Arlene and Lovell Potter of 
Flagstaff, Ariz., eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, many nieces, 
nephews, other relatives and friends.
 
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Dean and Marvin 
Scoville; brother-in-law Larry Bauer, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law 
Leland and Marge Karlberg.
