Korena K. Keefer, age 42 of Cozad, died on Feb. 2, 2011 at the Good Samaritan 
Hospital in Kearney.

Services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Berryman 
Funeral Home Chapel in Cozad.  Burial will be in the Gaslin Cemetery south of 
Brady.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 4, 2011 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the 
Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad.

Korena was born March 16, 1968 at Beloit, Kan., to Butch and Peggy (May) 
Keefer.  She graduated from Brady High School in 1986, later attending Mid-
Plains Community College where she trained to become an LPN.  Upon completion 
of her training, Korena began work at Gothenburg Long Term Care where she 
worked for several years.  She later worked at Southview Manor in Cozad, and 
the Centennial Park Retirement Village in North Platte.  In 2007, Korena began 
work at the Elwood Care Center where she worked until her death.   

Survivors include her father, Butch Keefer of Cozad; sister, Christine (Duane) 
Mercer of Cozad; niece, Cassandra Eades and Heather McNulty of Holdrege; 
nephew, Jamie Gerety of Cozad; four great-nieces and nephews and a host of 
other relatives.

Korena was preceded in death by her mother in 1995.
