Memorial services were held on Friday, April 18 at the First United Methodist Church in Gothenburg with the Rev. Randy Dilts officiating. Inurnment was in the Viola Cemetery in Eddyville. Survivors include her three sons, Richard (Linda) Kennicutt of Lexington, Robert (Kay) Kennicutt of Eddyville and Roger (Cathy) of Gothenburg; two daughters, Sherill Neben of Lexington and Sharon (Ken) Hanks of Hurricane, Utah; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren. Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Francis “Kip” in 1986, her parents, Frank and Lucille Chandler, one sister, Dorothy Chandler, two granddaughters, Terry Knott and Kimberly Kennicutt, one grandson Robbie Kennicutt and one great-grandson, Drew Kennicutt. Opal Ardell was born on Feb. 27, 1920 at Overton to Frank E. and Lucille A. (Furby) Chandler. Opal graduated from Eddyville High School in 1938. Opal lived at Eddyville until moving to Gothenburg in 1965. On Oct. 2, 1937, Opal married Francis Allen “Kip” Kennicutt at Grand Island. They had five children, Richard, Robert, Roger, Sherill and Sharon.
