Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 6, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Nebraska with the Rev. Caroline Vickery, Ethel Fox, C.L.P. and Pastor Josh Erickson co-officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 5, 2010, from 4-7 p.m. at the Reynolds- Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Jason was born in South Korea on July 12, 1985, as Jung Jae-Sun, and was adopted by Gene and Kathy (Benjamin) Libal at age one.  Jason attended rural District No. 22 school, Cozad High School and graduated from Lexington High School in 2004.  Jason attended Southeast Community College in Lincoln. Jason was a natural athlete excelling in gymnastics, football, and wrestling.  He joined the Nebraska Army National Guard in 2006, graduated from basic training at Fort Benning, Ga., and was a member of Troop C, 1/134th Calvary- Beatrice group – a far reaching reconnaissance group.  Sergeant Libal was a paratrooper and was to be deployed to Afghanistan with his unit midsummer. He had many interests in his young life, including; learning about history, movies, cooking, playing video games, hanging with friends, listening to music, computers, motorcycles and fast cars.  Jason never knew a stranger and would give the shirt off his back to someone in need.  He had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed a great story.  Jason will be very missed by all of his family and friends. He is survived by his parents; Kathy and Gene Libal of Lexington; brother, Joe Libal; sister, Erin Libal, both of Lincoln; uncles, Howdy (Linda) Benjamin of Cozad, Ron (Janet) Schlattmann of Alliance, George (Mitzi) Libal of College Station, Texas; aunt,  Cherlyn Libal of Lexington; maternal grandmother, Noreen Benjamin of Cozad; paternal grandmother, Berenice Libal of Lexington as well as by cousins, other relatives and many, many friends. Jason was preceded in death by an infant sister, Shelby Rae and grandfathers, Ralph Benjamin and Wilson Libal.
