Magoon, 79, of Lexington, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010, at Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington. Services will be Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Lexington with Pastor Duane Russell officiating.  Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. that same afternoon at Fort McPherson National Cemetery with full military honors.  Visitation was Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.  Sid was born March 11, 1931, at Franklin, N.H., to Edward George and Felanise E. (Hamel) Magoon, Sr.   He grew up in New Hampshire and entered the United States Navy in 1948; he made the Navy his career and was honorably discharged in 1968. Sidney was fortunate enough to travel almost the entire United States and Europe during his stint in the Navy and also traveled with his family.  He was active during the Korean and Vietnam wars.    He was united in marriage to Ruth Y. Martin on May 5, 1962, at Waukegan, Ill., and welcomed Ruth’s sons, Randy and Mike, as his own.  The couple moved to Lexington where Sidney worked for Eaton’s in Kearney for 17 and one-half years and then drove school bus for the Lexington Public Schools from 1990, retiring in 2004.    Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Ruth Magoon of Lexington; two sons, Randy (Debra) Adams of Cozad, Mike Adams and fiancé Kathleen of Lexington; three sisters,  Virginia Hinds of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Laurel Dussault of Lebanon, N.H., Karen (Maurice) St. Germaine of Bow, N.H.; four grandchildren,  Lucas and Rachel Adams of Cincinnati, Ohio; Amanda and Brad Patton of Hallam, Jordan and Heidi Adams and Whitney Adams, all of Lincoln; five great-grandchildren with one on the way, as well as many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.  Sidney was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Jo; one brother, Eddie and four brothers-in-law.  File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ne/dawson/obits/m/magoon401gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/nefiles/ File size: 2.5 Kb
