Teresa A. Hufford officiating.  Inurnment will be at 9 a.m., Friday, Oct. 8 at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell.  There will be no visitation.  She was born June 3, 1918, in Lexington, to Albert Lorenzo and Bessie May (Knapple) Banks.  Velma grew up on a farm north and east of Lexington.  She attended rural school through the eighth grade and graduated from Lexington High School in 1935.  She lived in Lexington most of her life and worked as a secretary, cashier and bookkeeper for many years until retiring in 1981.  Velma was united in marriage to Benjamin McCammon on Oct. 26, 1945, in Seattle.   She was a member of the First United Methodist Church for 80 years. Survivors include her brother-in-law, Dale (Dorothy) McCammon of Kearney; nieces Bonnie (Donald) Sliffe of Papillion, Barbara (Lee) Becker of Aurora, Colo., Anna Mae (Robert) Akins of Meridian, Idaho, Theresa (Gerald) Holland of Mesa, Ariz., Nancy (Thomas) McCammon Hansen of Fort Wayne, Ind., Gail (Michael) Mullins and Lori (Stephan) O’Brien, all of Kearney.  She was preceded in death by her husband Benjamin, her parents, her sisters Elaine Chadwick and Norma Viariseo, her nieces Lillian Rae Waltman and Rosemary Reinorld, her sister-in-law Anna Remus, and a great-nephew, Michael Remus.
