Rose A. McCarter, 78, of Overton, died Sunday, July 3, 2011, at her home after 
a lengthy battle with breast cancer.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at the Overton 
Methodist Church in Overton with the Rev. Katherine Bullard officiating. 

Visitation was held Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at the Overton Funeral Home in 
Overton. 

Inurnment will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Fort McPherson 
National Cemetery at Maxwell. 

She was born July 13, 1932 at Hamill, S. D., to John and Anna (Karas) 
Petersek.  On Aug. 2, 1950 she married Glenn McCarter, Sr. at Bridgeport. 

Survivors include sons, Michael McCarter, Daniel McCarter and John (Dona) 
McCarter, all of Overton; daughters, Bonnie (Calvin, Jr.) Prebyl of 
Beatrice, Kelly (Gerry) Barnes of Elm Creek; daughter-in-law, Connie McCarter 
of Overton; brother, Raymond (Betty) Petersek of Colome, S.D.; sisters, Helen 
Hieb of Chamberlin, S.D., Ann Burda of Lincoln; 21 grandchildren and 31 great-
grandchildren. 

Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn: son, Glenn McCarter, Jr.; 
daughter-in-law, Jan McCarter; her parents and sister, Lillian Bain.
