McNerny, 92, of Lexington, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, at Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington. Funeral Services were Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington, with Pastor Michael Gruhn officiating.  Visitation was held Tuesday at the church.   Burial was at Bartley Cemetery in Bartley. Survivors include three sons, William Dale McNerny of Lexington, Darrell Lynn (Herdis) McNerny of Puyallup, Wash., Douglas Carl (Kathy) McNerny of Madison; two daughters, Deanna Mae Wach of Estes Park, Colo., Zelda Marie (Richard) O’Hanlon of Lexington; one brother, Howard Paul Carstens of Florida; two sisters, Velma Esther Kruse of Bird City, Irma Dorothy Deeds of Colby, Kan., and eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.   Leona was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James and one brother, Maynard.  She was born June 14, 1917 at Fairbolt County, Minn., to August Henry William and Amelia (Fredricks) Carstens.   Leona attended the Lutheran Church in Elmore, Minn. She moved to Kansas in 1929 and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Bird City, Kan. Leona was united in marriage to James Michael McNerny on March 5, 1938 at Benkelman. While living Bird City, the couple owned and operated the Sinclair Station until moving to Frontier County in 1944, where they farmed.
