Funeral Services will be Thursday, July 29, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lexington Christian Church in Lexington with the Rev. John Craig officiating. Burial will be in the Hewitt Cemetery at Lexington with Military Honors graveside.   There will be no visitation, but the casket will be opened prior to the service at the church.  He was born Jan. 31, 1910, at Platter, Okla., in the Indian Territory to Elic and Sally (McKamey) Myers. Thurman was one of 12 children. Thurman was united in marriage to Jewell L. Holder in 1929, in Oklahoma. Five children were born to this union; Pauline, Lorene, Gene, Charles and Don.   Thurman was proud of his service to his country during WWII in the United States Navy. Serving from 1942, until being honorably discharged in 1945. He moved his family to Lexington in 1951, and worked in the shop at the hay mill and also did carpentry work.   Survivors include his children, Pauline Claborn of Whitewright, Texas, Lorene Jones of Lexington, Gene (Bev) Myers of Minden, Charles (Barb) Myers of Grand Island, Don (Wanda) Myers of Kearney; 18 grandchildren, many great and great- great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews; one brother, Hollis Myers of Verden, Okla., one sister, Geneva Wells of Mead, Okla.; special granddaughter, Gloria Crocket of Whitewright, Texas and special friend Shirley Lobdell of Lexington.   Thurman was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jewell Myers; brothers, Jack, Eual, Bill and Lester Myers; sisters, Nadine, Opal, Faye and Neoma; sons- in-law, Jake Claborn and Chuck Jones.
