Services will be Thursday, March 11, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at the Berean Bible Church in Lexington with Pastor Russell Matzke officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2010, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home. She was born Sept. 25, 1929 at Ogden, Utah, to William Joseph and Gladys Irene (Avery) Brooks. She grew up and lived with her mother, father, and brothers and sisters in Ogden until the family moved to Englewood, Colo., in 1942.  While in Ogden, Emily, her mother, and brothers and sisters played in the Salvation Army Band.  She graduated from Englewood High School in 1947. Emily met Warren Richard “Dick” Matzke during high school and they were married on May 25, 1947.  Dick and Emily were in the ministry as pastor and wife for almost 30 years.  Emily was his loving, faithful, supportive wife of 38 years until Dick’s death in 1985 while pastor of the Berean Church in Lexington, which they served for almost 18 years. Emily married Cecil Neu in 1996 and moved to Sumner.  She was married to Cecil until his death in 2008. Emily loved to play golf and did so until April, 2004, when she moved to Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala because of Alzheimer’s disease.  She moved in February of 2006 to Golden Living Center in Cozad, where she resided until she went home to Heaven on March 7, 2010. Emily is survived by two sons, Richard (Mary) Matzke of Ellis, Kan., Pastor Russell (Claudine) Matzke of Walsh, Colo.; one daughter, Pam (Mark) Carlton of Colby, Kan.; grandchildren,  Matthew Matzke, Andrew Matzke, Jason Carlton, Wendy Geschwentner, Benjamin Matzke, Blake Matzke, and Tiffiny Carlton; two sisters,  Beverly Robinson of Denver, Jeannine DeGarmo of Rocksboro Park, Colo., and 13 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.
