Parker, age 87, of Cozad, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010 at Meadowlark Pointe in Cozad. Services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel in Cozad with Pastor Blake Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Table Cemetery west of Merna at 4 p.m. on Thursday. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad. Bertha was born March 19, 1923 at Callaway to Claus and Clara (Forsberg) Christensen. She attended Arnold High School. On Oct. 29, 1941, she married Eldon F. Parker at Douglas, Wyo. The couple made their home in several places throughout Nebraska including Omaha, Anselmo, Dunning, Thedford and Eddyville; for most of which time Bertha worked as a telephone operator. The couple’s union was blessed with five children; Karon, Mickey, Larry, Richard and Eldon James. In 1960, the couple moved to Cozad where Bertha began work at Tenneco Automotive; a job she held for 20 years. Eldon preceded Bertha in death in 1982. Bertha was a member of the Living Hope Assembly of God Church in Cozad. Survivors include her daughter, Mickey (Lester) Nutt of Curtis; two sons, Richard Parker of Sheridan, Wyo., Eldon James (Karen) Parker of Lexington; one sister, Elsie Shaw of Abilene, Kan.; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, Bertha was preceded in death by her son, Larry; daughter, Karon; two sisters and a grandson, Steven.
