Services will take place at the First Christian Church in Lexington on Monday, March 7, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. K.C. BeDunnah will officiate. Burial of cremains will be held at 2 p.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell. Elizabeth was born Oct. 20, 1920 on the farm near Riverdale to George M. and Carolyn E. (Oertle) Knox. She attended school in Riverdale. She was united in marriage to Eugene Kitterer in 1941 and had a son, Lonnie E. Kitterer in 1943. They were divorced in 1961. In 1963 Elizabeth married Charles F. Pope. They made their home at Johnson Lake in 1965. She is survived by her sons, Lonnie (Gloria) Kittterer of Johnson Lake and Charles Gary (Karen) Pope of Green River, Wyo.; daughter, Jeannette (John) Palmer of Green River; 12 grandchildren, Jason Palmer of Green River, Wyo., Greg Palmer of Grand Junction, Colo., Holly Pope of Salt Lake City, Utah, Ryan and Melissa Orton of Kansas City, Levi, Sadie and Mason Pope of Green River, Di Kitterer and Alexis Jimenez of Lincoln and Li Kitterer of Kearney and seven great-grandchildren.
