James Lynn Potter, 66, of Plano, Texas, formerly of Overton, died Nov. 19, 
2010.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010 at Custer Road United 
Methodist Church in Plano and were officiated by the Rev. John Richardson.

Interment followed at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.

The family received friends at visitation, Monday, Nov. 21, at Turrentine-
Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.

James was born July 27, 1944 in Lexington to Meredith and Marjorie Potter. He 
grew up in Overton and graduated with the Overton High School class of 1962.

He finished business school in Lincoln and then moved to Chicago to work for a 
computer company. There he met Judy Shvegzda, a native of Chicago, at a party 
given by several of her teacher friends.

On Feb. 4, 1972 he married Judy Shvegzda in Arlington Heights, Ill. Two 
children were born to the couple; a son, Jeffrey, and a daughter, Josie.
After their son Jeffrey was born, the new family moved to Japan, where he set 
up a computer network for Isuzu motors. While in Japan, they traveled over the 
four major islands. They also spent a two-month vacation visiting Korea, 
Thailand and Hong Kong. After their stay in Japan, the family settled in 
Plano, Texas, where Josie, their second child, was born.

James is survived by his wife, Judy Potter, of Plano; daughter, Josie Sterne 
of Chicago, Ill.; brothers, Roger (Gayleen) Potter of Lincoln, Allen 
(Maryanne) Potter, and his mother, Marjorie Potter, all of Overton.
He was preceded in death by his father, Meredith Potter, and his son, Jeffrey 
Potter.
