He was born Jan. 20, 1923, at Troy, Texas to Juan and Virginia (Lopez) Rios. Julian was always a hard-working man and followed the sugar beet and cotton harvest all over the United States. It was while he was working in Michigan that he met and fell in love with Consuelo E. Escobar. The couple was married in May of 1947, in Snyder, Texas. He not only did plumbing, but he was a very capable contractor and could fix anything that was broken. He also interpreted for the Dawson County Sheriff’s Department and the Lexington Police Department and was always willing to help where needed. He loved being with his large family, especially teasing the grandkids, he taught his sons to play baseball and worked as an umpire for years. You would always find him rooting on his favorite baseball team, the Atlanta Braves, or his favorite football team, the Texas Longhorns and cheering for any team that was playing the Huskers. He also enjoyed playing the accordion and singing for the grandkids. There will be a great void left in this large family with Julian’s passing.
