Funeral services were Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009 at Wilson Memorial Service, 2811 Fieldstream Drive, Wilson, N.C., followed by a time of visiting and sharing. Charles was known to many throughout the years as “Dr. Streeter,” “Doc” and “Truman” by his friends. He was born in Lexington to Charles Oesterling Streeter and Edna Lloraine Johnson Streeter and grew up in Lincoln where he achieved the level of Eagle Scout at the age of 14. Dr. Streeter attended Nebraska Wesleyan University and was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He then graduated from the University of Nebraska School of Medicine as a family physician in 1945 with academic honors as Phi Kappa Tau. During World War II, he served in the Navy as a physician in the South Pacific. Upon retirement from the military, he established a private medical practice in Bertrand in 1951. He moved to Richlands, N.C., in 1955 and then to Jacksonville, N.C., in 1956 where he was in private practice for the next 44 years. Surviving him is his wife, Wilma Parker Streeter; children, Linda (John) DePierro of Phoenix, Ariz., John (Karen) Streeter of Centennial, Colo., Kathy (Brad) Jackson of Wilson, N.C., Dr. Greg (Nancy) Streeter of Jacksonville, N.C., Tom (Pat) Streeter of Raleigh, N.C.; 11 granddaughters, six great- grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
