Strickland, age 73, of Cozad, died July 10, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Services will be held on Friday, July 15, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad with Pastor James Moshier officiating. Burial will be in the Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad. Janice was born July 18, 1937, at Crofton, to Leslie and Ruby (Stoltow) Gutschow. Her stepfather, Cliff Rutledge, played a special role in raising her throughout her childhood. Janice attended Lexington High School. On Dec. 10, 1952, Janice married Rex Strickland at North Platte. Survivors include her husband of over 58 years, Rex LaMoyne Strickland of Lexington; two sons, Gordon Lee (Debra) Strickland of Cozad, Gregory Loren (Lloyd Stone) Strickland of Falls City; two daughters, Gloria Lynn (Michael) Harmon of Arapahoe, Donna Sue Strickland (Merlin McFate) of Callaway; six grandchildren, Matthew (Amy), Jeffery (Michelle) and Christopher “Toph” Harmon, Jessica Miller, Justin Strickland and Laura (David) Black; six great- grandchildren, Adam, Ella, Faith, Alex, Jacob and Jackson; two sisters, Verna Story-Moritz of Cozad, Virginia Hanson of Cozad; brother, Donald Gutschow of Elwood; brothers-in-law, Ervin Smock and Dewey (June) Strickland and three sisters-in-law, Lois Emens, Alverda Anderson and Jackie Loudon. Janice was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Cliff Rutledge; twin sister, Jeanette Andre; sister, Donna Smock; brother, Clayton Gutschow; nephew, Jay Story; parents-in-law, Ed and Bertha Strickland; brothers-in-law, Allen, Merton “Babe”, Clarence “Jack” and Burnell Story, Kenneth Moritz, Ed Hanson and a sister-in-law, Laurine Strickland.
