McDonald, 91, of Kearney, formerly of Overton, died Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, at the St. Luke’s Good Samaritan Village in Kearney. Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Overton with Father Paul Colling officiating. Burial was at the St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery in Lexington. Visitation and Rosary were held Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Overton. She was born May 20, 1918, at Overton, to Nick Thomas and Elizabeth Mae (Wengler) Thinnes. She attended school in Overton and graduated from Overton High School in 1936. Josephine was united in marriage to Floyd McDonald on April 29, 1943 in Elm Creek. Five children were blessed to this union; Janet, Robert, Peggy, Dan and Marilyn. Josephine and Floyd farmed most of their life until Floyd’s passing in 1981, and then Josephine continued the farming operation. Josephine was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Society. Survivors include her two sons: Robert (Patricia) McDonald of Bellevue, Dan (Barb) McDonald of Overton; three daughters, Janet (Jerry) Schroeder, Peggy (Randy) Carpenter, all of Lexington and Marilyn (Ron) Crandell of St. Cloud, Minn.; 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, two sisters, Elizabeth Earl of Elm Creek, Eileen Lauby of Lexington and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.   Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Floyd, one granddaughter Michele, five brothers and seven sisters.   File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ne/dawson/obits/t/thinnes452gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/nefiles/ File size: 2.2 Kb
