Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Elwood High School Gymnasium with Pastor Scott Guthrie officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Elwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad. Dusty is lovingly survived by his wife Heather and their daughter, Grace, both of Elm Creek; parents, Robert (Kristi) Von Loh of Elwood; brother, Justin Von Loh, 2LT, Nebraska National Guard, of Omaha; parents-in-law, Brian (Julia) Nickel of Elm Creek; two brothers-in-law, Richard Kennedy and Jeremy Nun, both of Elm Creek; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Gailard and Nelia Von Loh; and his maternal grandparents, Elmer and Arlene Schutz. He was born Nov. 9, 1984, in Lexington to Robert and Kristi (Schultz) Von Loh. He was raised and attended school in Lexington and Elwood. He participated in wrestling, football and track; graduating from Elwood High School in May of 2003. Dusty went on to attend Wyoming Technical College in Laramie, Wyo., where he became a certified diesel mechanic in March of 2004. On June 8, 2006, Dusty married Heather Nickel. The couple celebrated their marriage with family and friends in August of 2006 because they had eloped. On Nov. 7, 2006, Grace Elizabeth Von Loh was born. They are expecting a newborn son, Dustin Robert Von Loh, due in December. Dusty enlisted in the Army National Guard on May 20, 2005. He answered his country’s call to duty and was activated on Sept. 1, 2006. He served, as a Cavalry Scout with the 755th Recon/Decon Company in Iraq from Dec.5, 2006 to Dec.1, 2007. His last assignment was as an infantryman with Troop C 1/134th Long Range Surveillance. Dusty had recently been promoted to the rank of Sergeant (E-5).
