Services will be held at Evangelical Free Church, Nov. 11, 2010 at 2 p.m. with Pastors Tom Rempel and Rick Rehmert officiating. Interment will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery, Gothenburg. Visitation will be at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010 from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. with the family present from 5 - 7 p.m. Floyd was born on Oct. 9, 1942 to Kenneth and Nola (McPheeters) Wahlgren. He attended country school and graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1961. Immediately following graduation, Floyd enlisted in the National Guard. He returned to the farm in 1962 to work for his father. On Dec. 1, 1963, Floyd married his high school sweetheart, Marcy Uhlig. On Dec. 1, 2010, they would have been married for 47 years. Floyd was an early adopter of farming technology, including being one of the first to adopt GPS. He had an eye for detail and a mind for precision and efficiency. In ongoing efforts to promote the advancement of agriculture, Floyd served on many county, state and national boards. He served eight years on the Nebraska Corn Check-off Board where he was a representative on several national committees. He traveled to Central and South America, China, Japan, and Hong Kong in an effort to promote agriculture and trade. Floyd has been a committed KAAPA Ethanol board member for the past eight years. Floyd had strong faith in Jesus Christ. Through the years he served his church in many ways. Most recently he has enjoyed the fellowship of Men’s Bible studies, his Sunday School class, and sharing his faith with others. Floyd is survived by his loving wife, Marcy Wahlgren of Gothenburg; his children, Ross (Suzie) Wahlgren of Gothenburg, Lisa Wahlgren (Mark) Pospisil of Omaha, Ark., and Jeffery (Sonya) Ristine of Warrenville, Ill. Floyd is also survived by six grandchildren, Casey, Grant and Reid Wahlgren and Megan, Meredith and Margaret Ristine. He is also survived by two brothers and one sister: Dale (Cherlyn) Wahlgren of North Platte, Connie (Carl) Spence of Papillion, Roger (Carol) Wahlgren of Gothenburg and numerous nieces and nephews. Floyd was preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Ristine and parents, Kenneth and Nola Wahlgren.
