Wempen, 78, of Overton, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Church of Sumner (East Campus) with Pastor Ken Hutson officiating.   Burial will be in the Miller Cemetery at Miller.   Visitation will be held Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, from 4-6 p.m. at the Reynolds- Love Chapel in Lexington.  Survivors include his wife, Beverly Wempen of Overton; one son, Eugene (Diane) Wempen of Overton; one daughter, Betty (Patrick) Arnold of Sumner; grandchildren, Lori, Katie and Eugene, Jr. Wempen of Overton, Sean (Sara) Arnold of Kearney and Trisha Arnold of Kearney; great-grandchildren, Conner and Brendon Arnold of Kearney; one sister, Mary Ann Barth of Sumner and one brother, Earnie (Kathryn) Wempen of Overton. He is survived also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.   Cecil was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Henry, Jr. He was born May 21, 1930, on the family farm south of Sumner to Henry William and Martha (Baker) Wempen.   Cecil was united in marriage to Beverly Rutledge on May 22, 1953, at Lexington. Two children were blessed to this marriage, Betty and Eugene.   Cecil was a past member of the Nebraska National Guard.
