Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, June 3, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington with the Rev. Jorge Canela officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 2, 2010, from 4-7 p.m. at the Reynolds- Love Chapel in Lexington. Burial will be in Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell with Military Honors. He was born March 4, 1921, at Long Island, Kan., to Daniel G. and Emma (Sparks) Wolfe. Ray went to school until his senior year when he had to quit because his father died. Ray was united in marriage to Janice Mauser on Nov. 5, 1949, at Lexington. Together they were blessed with eight children. Ray was inducted into the United States Army on July 17, 1942 and served until his honorable discharge on Oct. 8, 1945. He earned the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his dedicated service to his country. Ray spent his whole working career as an over the road truck driver. As a young man he began his career with Union Freightways, then worked for Redball Trucking, Scotts Trucking and his final haul was for AG Groceries. After his retirement he helped area farmers in the Eddyville area hauling grain. He loved to fish, camp, do woodworking and carpentry work, go to auctions and prior to his wife’s death, they loved to travel. Ray will be so missed by his family and friends. Survivors include three sons, George (Annette) Wolfe of Eustis, Greg (Deanna) Wolfe of Eddyville, Tom (Barb) Wolfe of Cozad; two daughters, Amelia (Robert) Speck of Omaha, Susan Andersen of Eddyville; one daughter-in-law, Kristy Wolfe of Lexington; two brothers, Lee (Esther) Wolfe of Westminster, Colo., Dick Wolfe of Greeley, Colo., and 28 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janice in 2009; son, Ray, Jr. in 2009; two daughters, Kathryn and Dorthy; several siblings; one son-in-law, Dave Andersen and three grandchildren.
