The Atchison Daily Champion (Atchison, KS) Thur Jan 21, 1886
Ponca, Neb.,Jan 20.-- A feud of long standing between
the families of Westbrook and Anson Gibson came to a
bloody climax yesterday. Gibson and his son, while 
hauling wood yesterday, encountered the Westbrooks,
father and son. Jim Westbrook opened fire, the ball
taking effect in one of Gibson's mules. The fight
became general and all the combatants were more or
less wounded. Tom Westbrook died early this morning.
