Rogers, one of the very oldest pioneers of Nebraska, both in point of years and in length of residence, died at Omaha April 14. He was 96 years old and had lived at Omaha since 1854. He was born at Flemingsburg, Ky., Feb. 10, 1822, went to Michigantown, Ind. as a young man, clerked in a store, married in 1841, moved to Crawfordsville, Ind., graduated through Wabash college in 1848, moved to Pekin, Ill., and took up the practice of law, where he became the intimate friend of Abraham Lincoln. He came to Omaha with the first rush of settlers. He was a member of the Nebraska legislature in 1855 and 1857. His wife died in 1907.
