His father, born near Union, Monroe County, West Virginia, was a farmer. He is a great great grandson of Henry Arnot of the Revolution, who enlisted in New Jersey in 1778 and was a pensioned soldier. His mother came from Ireland and his father from Scotland. Mary Elizabeth Carmine was born on a farm near Galesburg, Illinois, February 9, 1860. Educated in rural school to the eighth grade until May 26, 1914, Dr. Arnot was graduated from high school at Pawnee City on May 29, 1918, and received the degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery in June, 1924, from the University of Nebraska. There he was made a member of the Green Goblins, the Iron Sphinx, Xi Psi Phi and Beta Theta Pi, of which he was steward in 1923-24. On May 20, 1925, Dr. Arnot was united in marriage to Esther Philleo at Denver, Colorado. Mrs. Arnot was born at Wayne, Nebraska, September 14, 1905. They have one son, Leland Dill, Jr., born July 7, 1926. Since his admission in 1924, Dr. Arnot has been actively engaged in practice. He is a member of the American, Nebraska State and Central District Dental Associations, and is serving as president of the last mentioned for the term of 1930-31. During 1925-26 he was president of the Exeter Chamber of Commerce, is a member of the city council (1928-32) and of the school board 1931-34. Dr. Arnot’s religious affiliation is with the Methodist Episcopal Church. He was a four minute speaker and a private in the Student’s Army Training Corps at the University during the World War, and if a member of le American Legion. He is also a member of the Odd bellows, the Nebraskana Society, the Cornhusker Dental Study Club and the University Club at Lincoln. Dr. Arnot's is golf and his hobby is landscaping.
