Cora C. Gruber, 99 of Eustis, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, at the Plum Creek Care
Center in Lexington.

Memorial services were held on Friday, Jan. 6, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in
Eustis with Pastor Terry Pool officiating. 

Inurnment will be in the East Cemetery at Eustis.

Visitation for memorial book signatures will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday
and Thursday at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad, which is in charge of
arrangements.

Survivors include a son, Wayne (Verna Mae) Gruber of Eustis; two daughters,
Barbara (Richard) Hendry of Melbourne, Fla., and Glennis (Richard) Thies of Elm
Creek; two sisters, Lucy Downes and Rose Herrick, both of Chicago, Ill.; eight
grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1972; a grandson; a
great-granddaughter; a brother, Herman; two infant brothers, John and William;
and two sisters, Emma Wagner and Anna Rohe.

Cora was born April 5, 1906, at Eustis to William and Caroline (Janus) Ebele.
She attended rural school and graduated from Eustis High School in 1924. She was
employed at Denver, Colo., and later at Los Angeles, Calif.

On April 20, 1928, she married Gene Gruber. The couple made their home on a farm
site east of Eustis until 1970, when they moved to Eustis.

She was confirmed and was a lifetime faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran
Church. She had taught Sunday School and had been a member of the choir and the
Mary-Martha Circle.
