Callan age 82 of Cambridge, died at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009. Funeral services will be held at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Brian Perry. Interment will be in the Bartley Cemetery in Bartley. Athol is survived by two sons: Ronney (Kathlene) Hansen of Bartley, Ivan (Julie) Hansen of Imperial; two daughters, Beverly (Jim) Foster of Lexington and Linda (Howard) Sayer of Cambridge; two step-sons, Roger (Shirley) Callan of Cozad, Rodney (Barbara) Callan of Colorado Springs, Colo.; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; brother Darrell (Gloria) Black of Idaho Springs, Colo.; one sister, Barbara (Vern) Palmbald of Wilsonville, Ore., and one sister-in-law, Bernice Black of Yuma, Colo. Athol was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; two grandsons, Lonnie and Larry Foster; grand daughter Kristi Sayer; five brothers, Bertie, Carl, Marion, Harold and Junior and six sisters, Bertha, Margaret, Irene, Twila, Gladys and Pauline. She was born in Wheeler, Kan., on Nov. 24, 1926 to Ralph C. and May A. (Duncan) Black. Athol attended school in Wheeler and St. Francis. On Aug. 28, 1945, she was united in marriage to Harlan “Bus” Hansen in Hoxie, Kan. He preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 1976. Athol later was married to Wayne “Bud” Callan on Jan. 2, 1991 and he preceded her in death on July 13, 2005.  Athol worked many years as a nurse’s aide for the Minnick Hospital in Cambridge. She also worked at the Rocket Inn in Indianola for many years.
