Upson was born in Camden, New York, July 4th, 1865, and died at his home near Lanham, Nebr., Sept. 29th, 1908, of typhoid fever. Until the age of twenty-one his life was spent at his birthplace. In the spring of 1886 he came to Nebraska. In June of the same year he went with his brother Fletcher to Oberlin, Kansas. That fall he returned to Nebraska and the following spring went to Oklahoma. Returning to Nebraska in the fall he engaged in farming till the spring of 1892 when he removed to Stuttgart, Ark. In June, 1893, he was married to Miss Julia Colon. His widow and five children, Jennie, Richard, William, Colon and Fred, survive him, two children dying in infancy. He leaves a father and a sister in New York and a brother in Oberlin, Kan. He returned to Nebraska in 1897 and until his death made his home in this vicinity. His funeral was held in Reserve church in charge of Rev. Duke Slaven and the Woodmen lodge of which lodge he was a member. His burial was in the cemetery adjoining the church by the side of little Frank, who preceded him a few months. He was of a kind and generous disposition and will be missed from his family.
