The Columbus Telegram (Columbus, NE) Sat Jun 7, 1884 pg 2

   Byron Drum, aged ten years, was instantly killed at
Beatrice by the accidental discharge of a gun. He and
two other boys about his age had been hunting and
fishing. Young Drum was taking a gun from the boat
when the accident occurred. His body was badly burned.
He was the youngest son of Postmaster Drum of Beatrice.
