Viewing and visitation will be Thursday, July 29, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood and prior to the service. Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 30 at 11:00 AM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood with the Rev. Jeff Ernstmeyer officiating. Burial will be at the Elwood Cemetery in Elwood. Military rites will be given by the American Legion Post No. 290 of Elwood. He was born Aug. 14, 1926, to Paul Frederick and Margaret (Boss) Debban in Gosper County. William attended the Salem Lutheran School south of Elwood. He worked on the farm until he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country from Oct. 8, 1946 until 1948. He was married to Lola Irene Hansen at the Elwood United Methodist Church on Feb. 24, 1952. Bill was baptized and confirmed in Salem Lutheran church and a long-time member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood. Bill was an active member of the American Legion Post No. 290 for over 33 years. Bill worked various jobs during his life including breaking horses, farming and trucking and working with his brother-in-law, Ernie Fiene at Elk-O- Inc. for many years. William was preceded in death by his parents; his infant daughter, Debra Ann Debban; brothers Ralph and Alan Debban and sisters Ardis Jenkins and Eunice Stoll. Survivors include Lola, his wife of 58 years; his sister, Dorothy (Dode) Getty of Grand Island; his children: Valorie (Rob) Wallace of Fayetteville, Ga., Lisa (Mike) Koch of Eustis, Janette Raine of Eustis, Keith (Lisa) Debban of San Diego, Calif., and Jeffrey (Celeste) Debban of Eustis. Also surviving Bill are his grandchildren, Paul and Mikaela Figel of Athens, Ga., Dustin (Leticia) Gleason of Kearney, Dylan Koch of Eustis, Brittany and Cassie Raine of Austin, Texas, John Raine of Lincoln, Chandler, Hannah and Sarah Debban of San Diego, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Mason Figel of Athens, Ga., Leni Gleason of Kearney as well as brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.
