Visitation for memorial book signatures was Friday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood with Pastor Jeff Ernstmeyer officiating. Burial will be in the Elwood Cemetery. Berryman Funeral Home of Cozad is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include her husband, Billie Doyle Fong of Elwood; a daughter, Sheila (Paul) Stenberg of Naperville, Ill.; three sons, Brad (Sharon) Fong of Woodbury, Minn., Kurt (Laurie) Fong of Detroit Lakes, Minn., and Lonny Fong of Elwood; five grandchildren, Abby (Jaime) Fong Cronin of Pleasanton, Shad (Brenna) Fong of West Point, Nathan (Amanda) Fong and Derek Fong of Woodbury, Minn., and Lacey Fong of Broken Bow; three great-grandchildren; two brothers- in-law, Herschel Sheffield of Wilcox and Charles W. “Bill” Cole of Holdrege and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Floyd Pfeiffer; two sisters, Berdina Sheffield and Lila Cole. She was born Aug. 22, 1932, in Elwood to Waldemar William and Lucille Regina (Boss) Pfeiffer. She was the youngest of four children. Helen was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church, south of Elwood. She attended rural school District No. 16 in Gosper County, and then Salem Parochial School, graduating from Elwood High School in 1949. On Feb. 18, 1951, she married Doyle Fong. To this union four children were born, Brad, Kurt, Lonny and Sheila.
