Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, in Lexington, with the Rev. Caroline Vickery officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the Elwood Cemetery in Elwood. There will be no viewing or visitation. He was born April 30, 1922 on the family farm near Alta, Ill., to Norvin S. and Mamee I. (Case) Fox. Wes graduated high school in Dunlap, Ill., and received his bachelor’s degree in agriculture education from Iowa State University in 1944. He taught agriculture classes at Ankeny and Bondurant, Iowa while training vocational ag. teachers for ISU for five years. On Dec. 21, 1947 he married Evelyn Louise Taylor at the Church of the Brethern in Clarence, Iowa. Wesley was a partner in a tire shop in Marengo, Iowa before joining Purina Feeds as a district sales manager. Mid 1950s found him as a regional sales manager for Daffin Manufacturing Co. In the 60s, Wes operated his own mobile feed business in Postville, Iowa. In early 1971 Wesley and Evelyn moved to Cozad where he sold Harvestore silos. In 1978 they re-located to Colby, Kan., where Wes managed a Pivot Irrigation dealership. Semi-retirement brought the Foxes to Elwood, where they helped son Lynn with his concrete business. Wesley has resided at the Elwood Care Center since August of 2009. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, serving as a deacon, elder, new building committee member, and Sunday school teacher at various Presbyterian churches they attended. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Fox of Elwood; sons, Ryan (Sally) Fox of Montrose, Colo., Kenneth Fox and Wallace Fox, both of Elwood; sister, Olive Sprouse of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; daughter-in-law, Diane Fox of Elwood; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; son Lynn Fox; sister Norma Harlan and brothers-in-law Cliff Sprouse and Ray Harlan.
