Gruber, 91, Elwood, will be at 2 p.m., today, Oct. 18, 2003, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood with Pastor Jeff Ernstmeyer officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery southwest of Elwood. Anna died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. She was born June 24, 1912, near Elwood to Carl and Kate (Kalthoff) Maahs. She attended rural school and Immanuel Lutheran Parochial School. On Oct. 29, 1933, she married George Gruber at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The couple resided and farmed on the farmsite south of Elwood, where her husband was born. Anna was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Survivors include her husband, George Gruber, Elwood; a daughter, Coleen (Bob) Simmons, Foster City, Calif.; a son, Douglas (Carol) Gruber, Bend, Ore.; two grandchildren, Danny Gruber and Gail (Ray) Ball, all of Bend, Ore.; and a sister, Emma Ringenberg, Oral, S.D. She was preceded in death by six brothers, August, William, Charles, Frank, Walter and Ernest.
