McGee, age 88 of Smithfield, died, Jan. 11, 2008 at the Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 10:30 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in rural Smithfield with the Rev. Cathi Braasch, officiating. Visitation was Tuesday, Jan. 11. Interment will be in the Highland Cemetery at Bertrand. He is survived by his four children, Dallas McGee of Lincoln, Charlene (Bob) Land of Bertrand, Arlan (Mary) McGee of Kearney, and Cherrise (Monte) Meier of North Platte; ten grandchildren, Brynn (Ben) Pratt of Lincoln, Jill McGee of El Paso, Texas, Ty (Leah) McGee of Chicago, Ill., Cristal (Jeremy) Hansen of Smithfield, Aaron Imler of Kearney, Brock (Jen) McGee of Lincoln, Brooke McGee of Kearney, Brandon (Beth) Meier of Oklahoma City, Okla., Logan Meier of Lincoln and Austin Meier of North Platte; two great-grandchildren, Addison Hansen and Trajan McGee; three step-grandchildren, Heather (Nick) Christensen of Cairo, Summer Land of Hastings, , Kyel Land of Holdrege; sister-in-law, Winona (Marvin) Bogner of Kearney; brother-in-law, Verlouis (Darlene) Forster of Smithfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, daughter-in-law, Shelly McGee; brother, Orley McGee and his wife, Doris; sister-in-law, Shirley Forster; brother-in-law, Norris Forster in childhood. Delmar was born Jan. 28, 1919 on the family farm south of Smithfield in Gosper County, the youngest of two sons to Frank and Ollie (Detenbeck) McGee. He received his education in rural Gosper County. Following his education, Delmar was united in marriage to Neomia Doris Forster on Aug. 31, 1941, at the Hope Lutheran Church and to this union four children were born, Dallas, Charlene, Arlan and Cherrise.
