Esther Helen Schutz Kaup, age 84 of Elwood, died April 19 at the Elwood Care 
Center.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at Our Redeemer 
Lutheran Church in Elwood with Pastor Jeff Ernstmeyer officiating.  Burial 
will be in the West Salem Cemetery southwest of Elwood.

Visitation was Tuesday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood. 

Survivors include two sons, Roland (Sue) Schutz of Benton, Ark., Michael R. 
(Starla) Schutz of Elwood; one daughter, Connie (Doug) Weissert of Elwood; 
nine grandchildren; five great-granddaughters; one sister, Eltha Haussler of 
Fairbury; two brothers, Donald Debban of Elwood and Harold Debban of Kearney. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Robert in 1972, 
her second husband, Lyle in 1989, her third husband, Eldon in 2004, her son, 
Richard, who died of bone cancer at the age of three and six brothers, Simon, 
Herman, Herb, Leonard and Gerald Debban and Berwin who died in infancy.

She was born Aug. 5, 1923 in Frontier County to George C. and Emilie (Linke) 
Debban. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church. She graduated 
from Elwood High School with the class of 1942 and taught in rural schools for 
four years. She graduated from Central Nebraska Technical College.

On May 12, 1946, she married Robert W. Schutz; to this union four children 
were born: Richard, Roland, Michael and Connie.  Mr. Schutz passed away Sept. 
2, 1972.

On March 15, 1988, she married Lyle Armstrong, and he passed away March 16, 
1989. On Nov. 22, 1989, she married Eldon C. Kaup of Manhattan, Kan., and he 
passed away Feb. 8, 2004.
