Ronald Dean Smith, age 52, of Elwood, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010 at Elwood. 

There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorial services will be at a later 
date.

Ron was born May 12, 1958 at Holdrege to Robert C. and Janice M. (Benton) 
Smith.

He grew up in the Omaha area. Ron spent much of his life being of service to 
everyone he came in contact with, helping and assisting in any possible way 
that he could. He worked various jobs during his life for Stan Medaris Tree 
Service, Walmart and for Brad Thornburg of Smithfield. 

On June 14, 1996 he married Debra R. Carpenter at Lexington and the couple 
made their home in Elwood. 

He is survived by his wife, Debra Smith; mother, Janice Duey, both of Elwood; 
sons, Terry Smith of Grand Island, Timothy Smith of Elwood; daughter, Tasha 
Smith of Elwood; brothers, David (Merry) Amesbury, Christopher Smith, Michael 
Smith, Timothy (Erika) Haggart; sisters, Aldina Trader, Denise (Kirt) 
Remington; father-in-law, Robert E. Carpenter Sr., and brothers-in-law, Richy 
Carpenter and Robert E. Carpenter Jr.

Ron is preceded in death by his father; step-father Don Duey and mother-in-
law, Sally Carpenter.
